Red Stag Forest Relays

The Napier Harrier Club was very conspicuous at the Red Stag Forest Relays in the Rewdood Forest in Rotorua, with 8 running teams and a walk team representing the club. The Mens youth team of Cameron Poole-Smith (10:59), Eric Speakman (10:05), Brendan Speakman (11:59) and Marno Wijnsma (11:28) were victorious over their 4 x 3.2km race. Freshly crowned National Junior Road Race Chmapion, Eric Speakman, also recorded a new lap record, taking 15 seconds off Stefan Smith's 2006 record. The Female youth team were not to be out-done, also capturing first place with the team of Annie Creagh (13:25), Hannah Drury (12:49), Holly Edmonds (13:25) and Jess Middleton (13:45) winning the 4 x 3.2km race by 44 seconds. The Masters Men's team also managed to sneak onto to the podium in their 5 x 5km race with Lance Pearson (20:39), Ron Middleton (21:03), Mark Speakman (20:12 and 20:46) and Stephen Lindsay (20:15) completing the course in 1:42:55 for third place.
