The first finish of the day was the cubs who had started 2 minutes after the under 12's but were only doing 1km. Zara Keighly and Jacob Ngan-Sue had a good tussle racing together the whole way before Zara managed to pull ahead up the final hill and head Jacob in to the line.
Shortly after, the boys 12 leaders cam into view and Shamus Christison was invovled in a ding dong battle with Hastings Sean Morrison. These two have battled several times already this year, with the honours pretty much even, but always provides a great spectacle with Sean towering over Shamus. However, size is not everything in this sport, and Shamus' determination brought him to the line 2 seconds ahead of Sean. Fifth home and second in our club champs was Devon Beckman, closely followed by Bradley Christison.
The girls 12 field was somewhat depleted, but it made for a trifecta for Napier as Georgia Creagh came home for the title, followed by Geogia gowler and Jinny Lee.
The Napier boys 14 title was won by Sam Hall, with Jack Smidt and Jason Pearson filling the minor placings.
Holly Edmonds placed second in the girls 14 race to win the Napier title. Sophie Rose was the surprise package here, nabbing second from Annie Creagh.
Jess Middleton was our sole representative in the girls 16 race, and so won the Napier title uncontested.
Similarly, Eric Speakman was unchallenged in the M19 club title, but also won his provincial race by the proverbial country kilometer (that just doesn't sound right, does it?).
Little brother Brendan proved determined in finishing second in the provinical race to win the Napier title from Campbell Busch and Kaden Hall.
Meanwhile, Daddy Speakman was running way with third spot in his provincial race to win the Napier title. He had it a bit harder with an aged vegetarian in the form of Eric Phimister breathing down his in second spot. Ron Middleton produced a strong showing to take thied in the Napier Champs.
Hannah Drury made a welcome return from injury and produced a solid effort to finish second in the provincial champs and win the club title. Second in the club race was Rochelle Bryant who produced a strong performance on a course that was miles (kilometers?) away from her preferred 400m track! Aleesha Heywood was third.
Annie Kane showed the benefits of recent strength training to comfortably win the Masters Women's club title from evergreen Cheryl Simpson with Kim Creagh continuing her recent improvements taking third.
Annika Edmondson comfortably won the Senior Womens club title, but as Annika is not a registered athlete, the provincial title went to the club second place winner Keiko Hashiba, with Shayna Heywood taking third.
