This event emanated from an idea some of our wine buffs who presented a miniature wine barrel as a trophy depicting barrel making.
This is an open handicap teams race event where we had 8 teams of 4-6 members in each team competing in ideal running conditions. Each lap is 4k with some of the younger runners running 2k each. The winning team of Fraser Pearson, Travis Keighley, Jason Pearson, Angela Sunnex, Mark Butzbach and Jodi Nagel secured the winning points by holding off the second team of Toby Hall, Scarlett Vowden, Ben Harrison, Sheila Smidt and Joan Vyle.
Third place went to the team consisting of Zara Keighley, Kingston Webb, Jasmine Ngan-Sue, Kim Creagh and Gina Finlayson.
The fastest team which started off 6m15s behind the first team to start the race managed to place 6th out of the 8 teams competing.
Fastest of the Men 4k runners was Eric Speakman in 12m19s, fastest Woman was Sian Lewis in 15m48s, fastest in the younger grades over the 2k distance was Scarlett Vowden in 9m28s for the girls and Toby Hall in 8m22s in the boys grade.
The fastest Masters Women over 4k was Kim Creagh in 18m45s while the fastest Masters Man was our Vice Captain Niall McCormack in 15m01s. report Wayne Smith
