Memorial Road Race |

In very blustery conditions a good size field of runners faced the starter for the last harrier race of the season by competing in the 24K Memorial Road Race from Taradale, Puketapu, Omarunui Road to Waiohiki and back to the clubrooms in Taradale. There were also 4 relay teams competing over the same course. The winner of this years 24k race was Eric Phimister who ran a steady race to complete the distance in 1hr46m55s followed by Mark Lane in 1hr48m41s with Niall McCormack claiming third placing in 1hr50m40s. The first lady in was Annie Kane having her first race over this distance and crossing the finish line in 1hr57m29s.
The winning relay team consisted of Niall McCormack on the first lap (and then carried on to run the full 24k) Kingston Webb, Georgia Creagh and Will Kelsey and their team finished in 1hr42m11s followed by the 2nd team of Toa Elphick-Iaveta, Mel Lochrie, Annie Creagh, Laura Smith and Gina Finlayson who did 1hr50m04s with the third team finishing in 1hr54m06s. |
