Apley Road Circuit from Puketapu, Napier

Napier Harriers hosted the Shoe Clinic Relay which included a 26km circuit starting at the Puketapu School, Dartmore Rd, Aply Road, Puketitiri Rd and finishing back to the school. A good field of 19 teams of 5 runners to a team faced the starter on a brilliant autumn day. Held in conjunction was a separate race for the 14 and under grades where 35 youngsters from the Napier and Hastings clubs had a mass start over 3.3k.

The men's Hastings Harriers United team were too strong and they won the relay in 1hr 30min while also gaining fastest individual laps times on the 2nd through to the 5th lap with Luke Osborne, Jeremy Forbes, Neville Smith, Ross McIntyre and Phil McKay.

Second home was the team from Gisborne Harriers in 1hr 37min 47sec who held off a desperate finish from the Napier Harrier mens teams by a mere 3sec with Hawke's Bay Multisports 4th just a minute behind with a mixed womens and mens team from Gisborne filling the 5th place.

The first womens team in was the Hawke's Bay Multisports Hot Chicks team of Simonne Morris, Lucy Williams, Hayley Davis, Karen Moore and Nikki Howell winning in 1hr 53min 11sec followed by Hastings United Harriers in 1hr 56min 50sec who passed the Napier Harrier womens team in the home straight who finished up just 4sec behind.

In the 14 years and under grade the Christison brothers were to the fore for Napier with Bradley first in 12min 19sec followed by Shamus in 12min 34sec with Hastings runner Daniel Way filling the 3rd place in 12min 50sec being only 5sec in front of his club mate Jared Lobb with Thomas Christison gaining 5th spot in 13min 08sec.v The first female in was Napiers Georgia Creagh in 13min 38sec followed by two Hastings runners being Kim Douglas in 14min 07sec and Monique Way in 14min 22sec with Napiers Laura Langley 4th in 14min 38sec with 5th placing going to Hastings runner Anna Bennett.

The teams race component of that grade was won by Napier Harriers.
